Foundational research
The research that shaped the framework.
Foundational Research brings together the studies, concepts and lines of enquiry that contributed most significantly to the development of The Human Futurist and the Intelligent Mathematical Blueprint.
These are the pieces that made Chris Styles look again.
A pattern appeared where he did not expect one. A sequence repeated. A historical event raised a question. A finding in one case appeared again somewhere entirely different. And, over time, individual investigations began to suggest a much larger research architecture. This collection preserves those important points in the development of the work.
Foundational Research brings those studies together.
These are not simply the most interesting articles in the archive.
Not every article in the archive carries the same research significance.
The Research That Made Chris Look Again
Some documented an interesting person or event. Others did something more important.
They changed the question.
They encouraged Chris to test an observation elsewhere, develop a new part of the methodology, compare previously unrelated cases or investigate whether a recurring structure might exist.
Those studies form the foundation of this collection. The purpose is not to present them as final proof of a finished theory.
It is to show where important ideas emerged, how the research developed and why certain investigations became significant to everything that followed.
Five Pieces of Research. Five Different Questions.
The first five Featured Foundational Research articles represent five different points of entry into the work.

Each begins with its own person, event, anomaly or research question.
But each also reaches beyond its original subject.
Together, they show how Chris approaches an unexplained result:
observe it → reconstruct it → examine the underlying data → compare it → ask what else it might mean.
You do not need to understand the Intelligent Mathematical Blueprint before reading the research.
- Start with the question.
- Follow the investigation.
- Look at what emerged.
Then decide for yourself what deserves further enquiry
How Chris Styles Rebuilt the Avery Nixon Resignation Puzzle
The Prediction Nobody Could Explain
Foundational Research | Patterns of Consequence
Kevin Quinn Avery was reported to have predicted Richard Nixon’s resignation to the date and hour, months before it happened. Chris Styles could find the claim, but not the calculation behind it. So he set out to reconstruct the missing pathway from year to month, to day, to hour.
The Question
Could Avery’s reported prediction of Nixon’s resignation be reconstructed using a transparent, repeatable sequence of calculations?
What Chris Found
Chris progressively narrowed Nixon’s timeline to 1974 → August → 9 August → 12:00 noon. The most striking point came on 9 August, when four independently calculated daily profiles repeated the same reduced values already active at the monthly level: 3 | 1 | 7 | 6.
What if the most important future to understand is the human one?
The Future of Futurology
Futurists study technology, economies, industries and societies.
In 2020, Chris Styles asked what appeared to be a missing question: what about the individual human being inside those futures? That question led him to propose “Human Futurology” and began a journey from predicting events towards understanding human decision contexts through time.
The Question
Can the principles of futures thinking be applied meaningfully at the level of the individual human being?
What Chris Found
Chris distinguished macro-futurology from micro-futurology, hifting the focus from large systems to the changing risks, opportunities and experiences of individuals, and whether that insight could improve decisions.
A conventional numerology forecast might give you one number for the year.
The Forecast Was Never One Number
Chris Styles was eventually working with eleven forecasting datasets across years, quarters, months, weeks and days.
The more layers he added, the more interesting question became not what any single number meant—but what happened when independently calculated timelines began to align.
The Question
Can multiple layers of an individual’s timing architecture identify periods that deserve greater attention than any single forecast could reveal?
What Chris Found
The original model evolved from one annual number into a multi-layer system spanning;
annual → quarterly → monthly → weekly → daily periods
While simultaneously distinguishing personal, professional and emotional dimensions. Chris became particularly interested when the same structures appeared independently across more than one layer—an early form of what Human Futurist research now examines as temporal convergence.
From Practical Numerology to Human Futurology
When A Reading Became A Model
Traditional numerology could provide Chris Styles with dozens of numbers about a person.
Traditional numerology could provide Chris Styles with dozens of numbers about a person. But there was a problem: they were usually interpreted one at a time. Chris began asking what would happen if the pieces were connected, and then modelled across different areas of a person’s life and across time.
The Question
Could integrating multiple numerical variables reveal more than interpreting each number independently?
What Chris Found
The important shift wasn’t the discovery of another number. It was the move from reading to modelling: preserving complete sequences, connecting more than 100 variables and organising them across personal, emotional, professional and temporal dimensions rather than treating each as a separate piece of information.
Human Futurist Coaching: From Prediction to Intervention?
What if Foresight Could Change the Outcome?
Foresight Changes the Decision
A 2022 Human Futurist article started with a familiar idea, change your thinking and you can change your results. But Chris added something unusual: what if you could identify a potentially important future period first, then deliberately change how you approached it?
The Question
Can personalised future-risk intelligence improve decisions by allowing someone to change their behaviour before a consequential period arrives?
What Chris Found
The research had begun moving beyond prediction. The emerging model was:
FUTURE PATTERN → AWARENESS → INTERVENTION → DIFFERENT DECISION → POSSIBLY DIFFERENT OUTCOME
That created an unexpected problem: if intervention prevents the predicted outcome, has the forecast failed—or has the intervention succeeded?
